On September 11, 2001, I was a freshman at Snead State Community College in Boaz, AL. I remember hearing about the attacks on my car radio on my way to my morning history class. Once I arrived in my class, Dr. Mark Freshwater told us that history was currently happening and he took our class down to the Student Union Building so that we could watch the news coverage of the attacks. Shortly after I sat down to watch the news, I watched the North Tower collapse in live time. This picture was taken by a photographer for The Sand Mountain Reporter, which was documenting student reactions to the 9/11 attacks. I am pictured sitting at the table piled in backpacks with my head propped up against my hand, watching the news.
